Cooperation at the highest level

FITZ lamp-manufactory and WELTER Wandunikate design their first joint product line of lamps. At the international fair for interior design and decoration “Maison et Objet” in Paris, they presented the extraordinary results of their cooperation.

WELTER Wandunikate and FITZ Lamp-manufactory, both manufactories of the German initiative for German manufactories, are cooperating for their first joint project. FITZ and WELTER chose the series “Viva Slim” which originally was designed by Heinz Klein as a basis of the project. At Maison et Objet in Paris in January 2014, this edition was presented for the first time.

The lampshade of the series is handcrafted in Fitz lamp-manufactory´s own atelier and the lamps are covered and designed by traditional methods. High-class Doupion silk is used for the production. The other lampshade of the series is decorated with glass beads manufactured by WELTER. The pedestal of the lamps is shaped like a pyramid and processed in a very elaborate and complex way with WELTER´S “7 Star Collection”. Characteristic for this collection is the three-dimensional surface, produced from porcelain powder and bound in natural glue. The whole process concludes with a special gilding technique which is patinized in a perfectly matching color with the lampshades color.

The manufacturing process of this edition requires hours and loads of creative handcraft. On the whole, there are around five people participating in the production process. The result of this cooperation is an exclusive and fine creation of both manufactories. This piece of handcraft stands for high quality and a successful cooperation and is only available on request.

Ulrich Welter, the managing director of WELTER-Wandunikate, explains “FITZ and we from WELTER want to show with this project how quality, experience and creativity can be bundled successfully”. Ilona Antons-Sieben, managing director of FITZ lamp-manufactory, adds: “The responses at the fair in Paris were all positive; the project is an outstanding success for everyone involved.”
