Handmade-in-Germany inspires Berlin: “Days of German Manufactories“ draw over 1,800 visitors to the premises of the Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin (KPM)

Whether 3D-globes, the finest leather gloves or writing utensils with centuries-old tradition: Taking place from September 19-20 and being organized by the Initiative Deutsche Manufakturen – Handmade-in-Germany, 27 German manufactories displayed their fascinating products, their skills and innovations for the first time in a large exhibition to delight the numerous visitors.

Already more than 350 guests came to the premises of KPM Berlin on September 19 for the “Night of the Manufactories”, the exclusive opening event of the exhibition „Handgemacht“. There, the guests were welcomed by the first rank of German manufactories: Companies such as the Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur, Burmester Audiosysteme, Joh’s Stübben, Roeckl, Fapack, Klais Orgelbau, Bildgießerei Noack, Strunkmann-Meister, Columbus, Rolf Lang Dresden and Faber-Castell did not only present their exclusively handmade products, their employees also provided exciting insights in the manufacturing process. At the same time, the visitors could take matters in hand and create their own box at the Berlin-based cardboard-packaging-manufacturer Fapack.

The following day, on the occasion of the nationwide Day of Action “Manufakturen@Tag des Handwerks“, the “Handgemacht”-exhibition opened its doors to the public – and the manufactory-enthusiasts would not drag their heels to attend it: Roughly 1,500 visitors came to see the handicraft of the manufactories. “After this success, I am sure that the ‘Days of German Manufactories’ will again take place in September 2015“, says Michael T. Schröder, founder and chairman of the Initiative Deutsche Manufakturen – Handmade in Germany.
