„Hidden Champions“ celebrate the three year anniversary of the German Manufactory Initiative

While Brussel is still discussing “Made in Germany”, the German Manufactory Initiative is holding its 5th members meeting in Stein at Faber-Castell. The Graf von Faber-Castell Collection, member of the Initiative, covers a range of hand-made pens and accessories. Since 2010, the Initiative represents authentic and hand-made products. and is the key contact for German manufactories and their issues.

“German manufactories are not only very successful internationally, they are also vital catalysts on the job and innovations market of whole regions,” emphasises IDM president Michael T. Schröder. There was no association before the Initiative kicked-off in November 2010. The manufactory Joh’s Stübben and its high-quality equestrian equipment, is one of the founding members. “The Initiative emphasises the important role German manufactories play for German mid-sized companies,” says Ralph Stübben, general manager of the Krefelder manufactory. The IDM holds 20 companies to date.

Fine cufflinks, handmade household linen as well as artful glass ornaments: the year 2013 saw a diversification of the products within the Initiative with three new members (Deumer GmbH, Ege exquisite GmBH and Glashütte Lamberts Waldsassen GmbH).

Deumer’s world-renowned skills with fine silver accessories can be traced back to 150 years of metal production and have been so successful that they are the fine emblem on the hood of Porsches.

The napkins of the new member Ege exquisite are used in Schloss Bellevue and the artful designs of Glashütte Lamberts at Rockefeller Centre in New York. Lamberts is one of the three glass foundries of its kind left worldwide and the world’s number one.

The members discussed the second Manufactory symposium at the member’s meeting in the Bavarian Stein near Nuernberg. This year, the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and the IDM are going to host talks in Berlin.
